beginning, i'll give more details later but the gist is that she grew up in quebec as the oldest of two (younger brother) to a father who is a senior partner at a private law firm and a mother who owns a cosmetics brand popular across canada and parts of china. jia and her brother were sent to study abroad in shanghai, china starting when she entered middle school. basically there she started her journey into music as she was introduced to diverse music from the french and north american music she was used to and she particularly liked rap. she used the lyrics as opportunities to better her chinese and she also began to write her own lyrics in korean after looking into rappers from korea. her parents were strictly unsupportive of her ventures and encouraged her to pursue a business degree or law degree to follow in their footsteps. for a long time they argued and went through a period of not speaking, forcing her to get a job as as server while attending school. it was at the restaurant that she worked at that she found out more about idols from the playlists that played and with extra shifts, she paid for dance classes at a idol dance studio in her spare time.

middle, as she danced, she fell more in love with the industry and had been looking for a way to make her dreams come true since her parents would not help her. the dance academy she attended began to host auditions and post about company auditions. she was too nervous to attend the first few but as time passed, she took a leap of faith and started to prepare for them. she received callbacks sometimes but she was always too nervous to follow through as they needed her parents approval. however she approached her parents one last time after having passed on opportunities and made her case again, showing the proof of her talent and of companies who wanted her. her parents were still very reluctant and her mother was very opposed but her father agreed to look over the contracts that were offered and to attend consultation meetings. she only brought to him the one deal she thought was the best fit. they sat down, he set the parameters for both her and contract negotiations and she was allowed to leave china to fly to south korea to begin training while finishing up her high school years in a business high school as part of the compromise.
